The second-hand shopping app has updated its size classifications for women's and children's clothes without notifying every member regarding the update. Online Platforms Backlash Many shoppers and sellers are expressing on platforms stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category versus the original listing due to the recalibration. The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with similar services. It has advised users to review their products and manually change the size where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance. Sizing System Changes Previously, the sizing featured a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10. The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10. For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L used to be a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18. Member Experiences One content creator, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult". "Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes. A different member, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as size 20–22. "If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she explained. Necessary Adjustments Another shopper, located in England, said she had been left angered due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item". "Personally, this is quite irritating, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she said. Marketplace Information The platform boasts over 100 million users, including 18 million in the UK. It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop. This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: previously, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
