19 of Medvedev's 21 championships have been won on hard surfaces
A comeback Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial trophy for 882 days with success over Corentin Moutet in the tournament title decider.
The Russian, a former world number one, has experienced a torrid period, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the American major.
Medvedev's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in specific - caused him dropping out of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with long-term trainer Cervara.
Presently training with Johansson and Goetzke, he has steadily advanced in the last few weeks - peaking in a closely contested three-set victory over Frenchman Moutet.
This represents the player's maiden trophy since the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt from March of the previous year.
Victory also means the Russian has secured twenty-one titles at twenty-one different tournaments.
"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my both daughters at once, so to get a title is really nice," commented world number 14 Medvedev.
"This title is in dedication of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my child Alisa was born was for her."
The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament previously this season.
His retrieving strategy and regular emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted commentators to doubt if his ability to play at the top level was finished.
However the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, attempting to come to the net and play positively, backed up by an improved serving game.
Medvedev came back from a break down in the initial set against the challenging Frenchman, winning 4 of the final five exchanges to take the lead.
The competitors swapped breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his maiden tour victory, took control to force a decider.
Moutet rescued 4 initial chances in a tight deciding set before the Russian broke to 15 to close out the victory.
Appropriately, Medvedev secured the win with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman failing to handle a volley after a lengthy match.
